The $261 million Pinterest earned in its second earnings report this year, $238 million came from the United States. They expect to surpass $1 billion in revenue in 2019. Pinterest has also seen a 30 percent user increase year-to-year. The majority of their monthly active users are international: 215 million global compared to 85 million in the U.S.
Pinterest continues to expand user experiences to drive engagement and growth. This past quarter they improved search recommendations, added more video content, and increased the amount of shoppable products.
Opportunities for advertisers. Did you know that 2/3 of pins represent brands and products! Pinterest is working to create unique value for businesses, grow and diversify its ad base, and improve ad measurements capabilities for brands. They recently launched mobile ad tools that let advertisers create and manage campaigns from their smartphones. They also introduced new video capabilities, including an updated video uploader, post scheduling, and dedicated video tabs for business profiles.
