Wine is nothing new and has been a drink of choice for centuries. With a ton of different varietals, some newer trends have started to pop up more recently.
Organic. There has been an obvious shift in consumers paying more attention to what they are putting in their bodies and trying to maintain a healthy diet. That goes along for wine as well. More and more organic blends are popping up in the wine aisle and we don’t foresee that trend going away.
Rosé. Millennials are shaping the market, and make up 36% of wine drinkers. Rosé has become a popular choice of beverage among this demographic, and the coined phrase “Rosé all day” seems to be hyping the Rosé consumption.
Whiskey Barreled. Wine aged in whiskey barrels started as an experiment and has turned into a nation-wide trend. Some wineries are using whiskey, bourbon, and even old scotch barrels to dream up this concoction.
The wine scene is Fort Wayne has continued to grow in the recent years. With no actual wineries in the city limits of Fort Wayne, a few restaurants and bars are taking featuring local, semi-local, and other wines from all over, to a whole new level. Wine Down is the first restaurant of their kind in the Fort Wayne area. They feature self pouring wine machines and boast the largest wine by the glass selection and one of the largest wine by the bottle selections in town.
Nearby wineries, Country Heritage and Two-EE’s, specialize in sweeter wines. The Indiana climate is best for producing sweet grapes. That is why many wineries in this region have vineyards in other parts of the U.S. and world. The climate plays a crucial role in the making of some of ours favorite drink.
