TikTok is a video based social app, which allows users to make short, looping videos with special effects and musical overlays. There are currently more than 500 million monthly active users, most of them being young adults.
Some brands are beginning to experiment with the app. TikTok recently launched an advertising process and hyperlinking capabilities. Companies are using the app to engage with younger audiences and show off a lighter side of themselves through funny videos.
While it’s still too early to create a list of best practices, it’s a great time to get inspired by brands who’ve already succeeded on the app.
There are 7 brands that have already gone viral:
If you think TikTok may benefit your company soon or in the future, now would be a great time to get ahead of your competitors by downloading the app and exploring ways different brands are using it and/or what your target audience is doing there.
Some things to keep in mind and get started on:
– Show a different side of your company. The app was made to show off creativity and humor. Be personal and/or show off behind-the-scenes—this can make your company appear more relatable or trustworthy to potential customers.
– Experiment! Unlike other platforms, there aren’t many best practices, or rules about what works and what doesn’t. If you think something might be interesting or funny, try it and see if it gets any likes, comments, or shares.
– Engage with your audience. Try to come up with videos, challenges, or duets that aim to interact with others. As with any other platform, the more you engage, the more you could grow.
