Summertime generally means fun in the sun, relaxing with friends, and a vacation or two. For most of us though, we still have to work and that means early mornings on hot summer days. When it’s 90 degrees, thank goodness for cold brew coffee.
Cold brew coffee takes the heat out of the equation. It is made by steeping coffee grounds in cold water for twelve hours at a time and can be kept in the fridge for up to two weeks. What’s more is cold brew won’t get watered down like iced coffee. It’s concentrated so you’ll have lots of energy to get through those morning meetings.
Here’s what’s trending in cold brew coffee for summer 2017:
This combo is sure to be a summer favorite. The sweetness of the coconut water is a great addition to the smooth flavor of cold brew coffee. It can be partially made with regular water too or you can go all in with just coconut water. The choice is yours!
A major complaint of iced coffee drinkers is that too much ice dilutes the coffee. With cold brew you never have to worry because the coffee is so concentrated. However, if you’re looking to add even more flavor to your drink, consider using coffee ice cubes. Simply, freeze premade cold brew overnight and—presto, double caffeine!
If you’re looking for a smoother tasting coffee without the bitterness of freshly hot brewed coffee, give nitro cold brew a try. Nitrogen is added to the cold brew to give it a smooth creamy taste. It’s stored in kegs at high pressure and often comes in a bottle. Perfect for when you’re on the go in the summer heat.
