Small businesses are abundant in every community no matter the industry. It is the smaller, locally owned and ran businesses that you spend your money at for services and products. They are here in your community and have your back.
Being a small business, sometimes it’s easy to push big things to the end of the to do list. One of those big things is branding. You are so busy getting your business up off the ground, that you forget the big picture of creating a solid, consistent brand. When you have a smaller budget, branding is even more important.
Promote. Are you hosting an open house? Have a fun event planned? Invite the media. A quick email or call to the right person can result in free PR for your business. Most local news outlets love featuring small businesses in their community and are willing to hear what you have in mind for a quick segment. A TV news segment or article in the local paper can lead to sales and most importantly showcase your brand story.
Grow your social media. If you don’t have social media for your business yet, get to it. People in the US check the social apps on their phone an average of 17 times per day. Engage with potential consumers! Depending on your audience, choose what social platforms will work best for your business. With more and more social networks implementing ad managers, you can pinpoint your latest promotion to a targeted audience for a low cost. Social media is an easy and effective way to create a voice for your brand.
Be fresh. Branding does not always stay the same; it is ever evolving. Your business may experience growth in an area that was not forecasted and therefore you need to re-establish your brand. As it grows, keep your marketing tools up-to-date and inline with your identity.
