Whether it is updating their algorithm, content, or design, social media platforms are constantly changing. Facebook has released more updates…surprise, surprise. Having been around for over a decade now, Facebook has come a long way from the simple site that was created to connect college students. It is now a powerhouse for targeted digital advertising.
In 2012, Facebook started displaying advertisements, known as Promoted Posts, in user’s news feeds. The digital world went bonkers. Since then, Facebook has already implemented some changes and has more big things in the works for 2016. Here is what you need to know:
Lead Ads. Lead ads implement the simplicity of “just two taps.” Lead ads target people through your selected audiences and they can easily request an estimate, subscribe, sign up, etc. With the click of their mouse they are not leaving Facebook, but rather being able to complete the form in a few taps; increasing conversions immensely. Users are no longer waiting while they are directed to another site. Facebook is even populating as much of the users’ info that they can gather from their profile, making filling out forms on tiny smart phone keyboards a breeze.
Reactions. We all have been waiting for a dislike button. A few weeks ago we were given a set of emojis for post reactions. You can now not only like a post but express your feelings of: love, haha, wow, sad, and angry. Now as a marketer, you can gather greater insights about how your audiences are interacting with your posts.
Rumor has it. A document leaked by Facebook claims they plan on launching ads within Messenger this year. Companies will be able to target users through Messenger who has previously initiated a chat thread with their company. 800 million people use Facebook Messenger every month. The opportunity for companies to advertise and reach consumers would result in a huge jump in clicks versus impressions.
These changes to Facebook, with more to come in 2016, are gold mines for advertising and marketers. With 1.39 billion active Facebook users per month, there is no bigger social platform to reach consumers.
