Since the beginning of the pandemic, the focus for businesses has been how to create touchless solutions to keep consumers and employees safe. Since there are a wide variety of new options available, we found a few ideas that most businesses should consider moving forward.
One option to consider is virtual events. As social distancing continues and regulations vary from state to state, virtual events are becoming a more and more popular option in place of in person events. Many businesses are now offering classes and seminars online, but what are other ways you can incorporate this technology? For inspiration and ideas, see how other companies are adjusting. For example, an art gallery in Hong Kong opted for a virtual art show and also hosted a VIP event for select guests prior to the show. By offering virtual event options, it shows customers that you are flexible during uncertain times and may connect you with new customers who were previously unable to attend in person. This option may not be suitable for every business but think outside of the box in how you might use this technology to your advantage.
Another option is to incorporate QR codes into your marketing plan. Although this technology has been around for a while, recent events have brought QR codes back to the forefront as a touchless solution. Since most smart phones come equipped with a QR code reader in the camera, this is a simple solution that already exists on the consumer’s device. QR codes will allow them easy access to your website, social media channels, recipe links, and so much more by simply opening up their camera and scanning the code. Keep in mind that there are many types of QR codes available, all of which offer different benefits and features. For example, there are two types of QR codes; static and dynamic. Static codes are traditional black and white images where the URL cannot be changed after it is created. On the other hand, dynamic codes have a custom design, can be tracked online and has the capability to change the URL at any time. There are many ways to incorporate QR codes, so make sure to research and investigate the options and the details of each type to find the one that best fits your needs.
Lastly, did you know Instagram has a similar QR-like feature? It is called a “nametag” and you can find it on your feed drop down menu. From there you can see your personal nametag that you can share with others on mobile or print. You can also scan other individuals or brands nametags by clicking the “Scan a nametag” button under yours. Check out this table tent we created for a client below. This business can display this out during tastings and other events for individuals to easily scan and instantly follow them on social. It is a great way to stay connected and gain new followers at events.
