    Tell a story: The evolution of Instagram stories

    Instagram storiesIn the world of digital marketing, social media is rapidly increasing as an advertising platform. Instagram is one of the most used and fastest growing social media apps in the world. Its quickest expanding feature, the Instagram story, is proving to be a pivotal option for online advertising. Implemented in August 2016, the Instagram story has grown exponentially since its launch. There are more than 300 million daily users of Instagram stories. With this powerful reach, it’s clear that businesses need to utilize this tool when it comes to digital advertising.

     

    Get Personal

    There are several reasons that make Instagram stories crucial to an online advertising strategy, the first being its ability to show that your company has personality. In contrast to the usual posts, stories can be more laid back and personal. The photo and video features can be used to show behind the scenes footage of your company, its employees, production, or anything else that will make the customer feel as though they personally know you and your brand. Stories have a very useful ability of humanizing the company, unlike most of your every day, organized, and strategically posted and edited photos. Giving the consumer this more personal bit of content is an effective way to increase brand loyalty and awareness.

     

    Check the Polls

    Another feature that is provided through the Instagram story are polls. When posting a story, your company has the option of using interactive polls in order to stimulate maximum engagement of the audience. This provides a fun incentive for followers to view your product and also gives your company important data on what your audience is looking for. By using these polls, your company will be able to acquire measurable data on both your audience and their opinions while also increasing customer engagement. It’s a win-win!

    Lastly, there’s the option to add links into your Instagram story. When posting a photo or a video on your company’s story, you can add a working hyperlink right into the post. By doing so, you are able to provide your followers with an immediate and direct path to your company’s website, products, promotions, or anything else that you are looking to drive traffic towards. This will allow your company to steer followers from social media, directly towards your call to action. Utilizing interactive links inside of your story is another great reason to use Instagram stories in your marketing plan.
