    Shopping On Social Media

    Social media is one of the most popular forms of entertainment that we have right now. People use social media for activities like keeping up with friends and family, watching funny videos and taking quizzes to see which Disney character they are. It has been a key part of people’s everyday lives in many ways. But there is a particular feature that is making a huge surge right now…..shopping! Most of the social media platforms have incorporated some sort of e-commerce feature where users can buy items without having to go to the retailer’s website. We live in an on-the-go society today so social media platforms are making it easier for brands to promote their products to be sold quickly.

     

    So we created a list with a few examples of the shopping and e-commerce features that are growing in popularity on social media right now.

    Digital Coupons

    Everyone loves deals and discounts right? Many of the top platforms have incorporated ways for brands to promote digital coupons. This doesn’t require much work for the users. They just have to download the barcode to their phone and they can use it at a store or enter the code online when making a purchase.

     

    Social Media Shopping Pages

    Sites like Facebook have made it easy for brands to build shopping sections to their pages. These pages allow for users to look through some of the products that brands sell online. Facebook accounts for 64% of social revenue and this is one of the reasons why brands use this feature.

     

    Instagram Shopping Ads

    Instagram shopping capabilities have made a huge surge in recent months. When they began allowing ads on the platform, the “shop now” feature could be added to the bottom of the image along with the option for a “learn more” button. Now, more brands are using the updated version that allows for the ad to have more of a natural look. The new shopping posts look more like organic content but now you can click on the shopping bag button and the name and price of one or several items in the image will appear. This update has made the Instagram shopping experience cleaner and more effective.
