Majority have heard of Snapchat Stories where you can have a snap visible to your friends for a whole 24 hours. Well, Instagram must have really liked the idea. Earlier this week they released their own version of “Stories.”
Snapchat is quickly becoming the source for up to the minute news and updates and Instagram wants in on that party.
So you’re not a Snapchat user and wondering what all this story talk is about. Here is the 411:
With the Story feature on Instagram you can now post a picture or video that can be viewed up to 24 hours. It does not get added to your collection of pictures and videos, but rather lives at the top of your feed with other friends’ stories. You can even add cool effects to your selfie like text and drawing.
What does this mean for brands?
Instagram has been around longer than Snapchat, so many brands have a stronger following on that platform. The idea of being able to share real-time, instant photos and videos is very appealing to audiences. The personalized, behind the scenes look is what younger, millennial consumers are looking for. This new feature will also help greatly with influencer marketing and help reach a Instagram’s huge audience of 300+ million daily active users.
