How and where a person consumes media is ever evolving with the advances in technology and a new generation on the rise. Smart phone usage has never been higher, and there is now an app for everything. Consumers are downloading apps to chat with friends, track their budgets, and even have someone else do their grocery shopping for them! The smart phone glued to their pocket is your key marketing tool. Here are tips for marketing to the mobile consumer in 2016.
Know which social media platforms to advertise on. Take a look around at your target audience. Where is their social media presence—Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram? Which ones do they connect with brands like you on? Ads are popping up more and more while scrolling through these apps and you don’t want to be the last one to the party.
Video. 2015 was the year of the video and it looks like 2016 is going to be just as video-obsessed. Videos stand out on social media and are more likely to grab the viewer’s attention. 55 percent of people watch videos online every day. Instead of boring the consumer with text you are giving them all the information they need within a tiny clip.
Virtual Coupons. Everyone loves a good deal, especially if it is timely and readily accessible. Coupons on mobile devices are a gift from the digital gods for companies. There is no more fuss over scanning through the Sunday paper and clipping coupon after coupon. In 2015, 40 percent of U.S. smartphone users redeemed a mobile coupon. Expect to see a rise in this new trend.
These are just a few of the ways you can market to the mobile consumer. Need more help revising your marketing plan for 2016? Give us a shout—we’d love to help!
