How to Develop a Brand Around Multiple Products

    By Catalyst | Uncategorized | Comments are Closed | 19 April, 2023 | 0

Starting any business can be an exciting yet challenging adventure as there are many details to plan and strategic decisions to make. For example, creating a persona/tone for your brand is crucial to connect with shoppers and tell a story about your business. With the help of our marketing team, we developed a bold Viking character for our client Mad Horn Meadery for their delicious line of locally made meads. A lot of thought and creativity goes into developing each character and label that will connect with each flavor profile and below is a little background on how each personality was brought to life:

    Gold Standard

The first flavor profile to hit the Mad Horn Meadery cans was Gold Standard. This is a metheglin style mead with flavor hints of black tea and citrus. With the name “Gold Standard” the brand knew they needed to incorporate a gold/yellow color in their label. The yellow/gold color also symbolizes honeybee’s, which is a crucial ingredient in the mead flavor. When you research the history of mead, you will quickly see that Vikings drank plenty of it during their period. Therefore, incorporating the Viking character into the Mad Horn Meadery brand was a perfect pair.

    Viking Vacation: Agave Wine

The next flavor profile to drop for the brand was Viking Vacation. Staying consistent with the Viking character, this flavor kept the Viking on the can but added sunglasses to indicate the “vacation” profile. Agave wine is made from blue agave which is why the can reflects the color of what is inside.

    Crimson Tart: Cherry Limeade

With a blend of sweet, dark cherries and perfectly ripened key limes, the next flavor to drop was Crimson Tart. After brainstorming ideas with the creative team at Catalyst Marketing, the red dragon came to life for this flavor. Once again, the dragon plays along to the Viking period theme that Mad Horn Meadery has. This can was produced in red and green colors to resemble the cherry and lime flavor profiles.

    Theodin’s Cranberry Mist

The newest flavor to drop for Mad Horn Meadery was Theodin’s Cranberry Mist. This flavor profile has the perfect balance of sweet honey wine with tart cranberries. Theodin is a strong Viking character that the Catalyst Marketing team created. His beard and Viking helmet showcases the bold flavor profile that this Cranberry Mist is. Incorporating the gold/yellow brand colors throughout the can is important to stay on theme, but adding the red color helps connect the cranberry flavor and brings it all together.

Throughout the process of creating each character, our goal was to create a cohesive look throughout all the packaging while still creating a unique personality for each flavor. Defining your brand, color schemes, and overall tone from the start is what will set you apart from your competitors.
