Every Tuesday from June through September Junk Ditch Brewery hosts Food Truck Tuesdays. From 5pm-8pm you can enjoy an ever-changing variety of food trucks Fort Wayne has to offer. Junk Ditch’s signature food truck Affine is there along with their brand Grace Kelly baked goods. This is fitting considering Junk Ditch started as Affine. They have also brought Grace Kelly baked goods to life. These are great places to find creative and fresh dishes. It showcases all different talents and styles of the food trucks in the local area. Each Tuesday there are different trucks so you’re able to try something new each week. If you see the same truck it is also likely they will have a new menu. Exciting!
Every Thursday from June through August at Freimann Square Fort Wayne offers live music and great spots to sit and enjoy lunch. Local food trucks are always available for a smorgasbord of tastes ranging from Mexican eats to seafood, making lunch hour a little more exciting than grabbing fast food.
One restaurant that has made eating outside a reality is The Deck. Not only do they have a fresh menu, but their atmosphere is what brings the crowd. It has an amazing view of downtown by the river, which is unlike anywhere else in Fort Wayne. They have expanded their waiting area and they also have food truck on certain evenings. The sun never sets there, so you can enjoy a cocktail well into the summer night.
Speaking of cocktails, there are many local nonprofits that put on events with food and beverage in mind. Junior Achievement holds a Wine and Beer Festival at Parkview Field, and the Fort Wayne Zoo has an annual Zoo Brew. Zoo Brew incorporates delicious food, beer, and wine from over 40 local and regional establishments. The Zoo Brew typically sells out because of the experience. You are eating and drinking with animals, which is way different than your typical brewery experience. What’s more is that all proceeds from each of these events support Junior Achievement and the zoo’s operations and animal care programs.
Fort Wayne is becoming the spot for anyone to enjoy their summer. Food and beverage is taking over the scene and is sure to continue growing within the years to come.
