In the past year, the number of Millennials working has surpassed the Gen Xers as the Baby Boomers are beginning to retire. This means learning how to market to the Millennial is ever more important.
There have been millions of studies conducted on their behavior and it is clear that the average Millennial is attached to their mobile devices. The average Millennial spends almost one full day each week on their phone. You know they are on their mobile device, so what are a few tactics to reach them?
Engaging content. So long as the content your brand is pushing out is relevant and in tune with the interests of millennials, they will engage. Millennials are looking to connect with brands and companies that tell a story. They are “sharing” masters and push out their favorite articles, brands, and products all over their social media. They are social influencers in the free-est of forms. The more they connect with your brand the more brand awareness you will gain.
Marketing experiences. Although their phones are attached to their hip, millennials are looking for experiences. Whatever you are marketing to them via a mobile device needs to also connect them offline with a cool experience. Millennials love to put what they are doing out in social space. Take for instance the popularity of real-time social media platform, Snapchat.
Remember, you can’t go wrong as a brand to keep up with your social media. The more visible your brand is and the easier it is to research online, the more likely you are to engage millennials. That doesn’t mean you have to be everywhere, but be sure to be in the most strategic places that make sense for your brand.
