Creating unique content doesn’t always come easy, especially if writing is just one of the many things on your to-do list for the day. Writing is a true talent that not all of us are naturally gifted with. And when you are under the gun to come up with something quick, it can be intimidating. If you are like me, the hardest part of the whole blogging process is just getting started. What topic am I passionate about? Do I have enough in-depth knowledge to share? Can I make it interesting enough for people to actually read it? Here are a few tips that have really helped me:
BE ORIGINAL.
Sharing existing content is an effective way to engage on social media, but blogging is a different playing field. You MUST create original content to be authentic, to earn credibility, and to make your own mark. It is definitely acceptable to use other articles for reference as you write your blog – and please make sure to give credit where credit is due – just make sure the voice is yours.
BE REAL.
This isn’t a college term paper. Feel free to write like you would talk. Don’t overuse the latest buzzwords or worry about proper sentence diagramming. While your English professor might be looking to correct your work, blog readers aren’t. They want to read interesting, entertaining content. You will increase engagement if you write in a natural tone, plus it should flow easier for you because this how you naturally engage others face-to-face.
BE PRODUCTIVE.
